The National Forestry Foundation and C.C. Filson had previously worked together, on the restoration of the Monument Peak Lookout Tower, in Monarch, Montana. They wanted to have a booklet in the tower, that spoke about the history of Monument Peak up to the present time, so people could know and appreciate the story the lookout tower.
